Important Insurance Changes

After much deliberation, we have decided to end our preferred provider status with the Davis Vision insurance company, effective 01/01/2015

We have always maintained a high standard of care for our patients, and have been unwilling to compromise or cut corners just because of insurance company shortcomings.  We have avoided using discontinued contact lenses, cheap materials and outdated technology.  However, in the current environment of managed health care, many insurance companies are adding more and more restrictions on what they will allow for their subscribers.  It has reached the point where it is impossible for us to offer the insurance patients the same high quality products that other patients can choose.  We do not think it is right that patients who have NO vision insurance are the ones who can get the best quality of vision care.

So, rather than lower our standards we have chosen to terminate our preferred status with these insurance companies.

What does this mean for you?  In most cases, you can continue to come to us for your vision care needs.  However, you will need to read your specific insurance contract to determine what your out of network benefits will be. We have found that most of our patients have chosen to pay a little more to have the highest level of care.

If Davis Vision does not allow you to choose your own optometrist, we encourage you to select a different vision plan when it is time to renew your insurance benefits, please talk to your Human Resources Department.
